Eco-Cybernetics Approach to Knowledge and Information Science Education in Iran

Purpose: The purpost of this research is to provide a theoretical model for educational planning in the field of Knowledge and Information Science (KIS) in Iran. Therefore, while addressing the concepts of ecology and cybernetics theories and combined them with each other, a new approach called “Eco-Cybernetics Appraoch” in introduced and explained.

Methodology: This research conducted with the documentary-analytical method. The literature review of cybernetics and ecology concepts and studies about the future of KIS science education was used to gather the required information.

Findings: Eco-Cybernetics approach to KIS education, such as biological ecosystems, is simultaneously regarding the environmental fcators and pillars of education. Eco-Cybernetics approach to study the interative relationships between pillars of KISeducation and its environment. This approach to explain the future of KIS education is a function of the interaction between pillars of KIS education and its einvironment as well as feedback and feed-forward systems (Future of KIS= F(KIS Education ×E)+ Feedback+ Feed-Froward).

Originality/Value: For the first time with Eco-Cybernetics approach, educational planning in KIS field is analyzed in Iran. This approach can help policymakers in developing a foresight educational planning for KIS education in Iran.
