Objective: The aim of this study is to explain the familiarity of Qom province public library Librarian’s with the concept of green information literacy and their role in environmental protection.

Methods: The research method is survey - descriptive and population includes 75 librarians from 24 public libraries of Qom province, which was conducted in the census method. The data collection instrument was researcher-made online questionnaire that was sent to librarians through Whatsapp. Finally, 40 librarians completed the questionnaire. The data were analyzed with SPSS21 and Excel software.

Results: The findings showed that librarians' green information literacy is above the average level in all four components of environmental awareness, environmental conservation motivation, environmental behavior or performance, and environmental conservation attitude, and despite this, only half of the librarians defined the concept of information literacy. Green is familiar. Also, the findings showed that all four evaluation variables of green information literacy are not significantly different between the library and non-library fields of study, and married people have a positive attitude compared to single people in the environmental attitude component.

Originality: Green information literacy is one of the new concepts whose researches have been started by researchers in different fields and experts in the field of information science have also examined it from different aspects and the published researches in this field are still not significant and most of them are in universities. and students, examine research is one of the few research projects that examines the role of librarians and libraries in it.
