Purpose: the purpose of this study was to design a model of public health services to the elderly and to validate it among librarians in Tehran.
Method: this research is based on purpose and is exploratory mixed approach. In the qualitative part, a number of 19 people and managers of the elderly were interviewed in deep interview. The data were analyzed using qualitative content analysis method and analyzed by MAXQDA software and the components of the elderly service pattern were obtained. In quantitative section, the instrument (questionnaire) was developed and in a sample of 114 librarians of Tehran who were selected by simple random sampling method. The validity of the questionnaire was confirmed by four members of the scientific board and factor validity was investigated by factor analysis. its reliability was calculated by cronbach's alpha of 0.941.
Results: the proposed model of providing services to the elderly in public libraries has seven components; "building and space", "public libraries services", "public libraries services", "materials and resources for the elderly", "internet services", "human resources", "and "planning and budget".
Originality/ Originality: This paper presents the attention of public library manager's attention to the problem based on the proposed model of older age group needs and providing different services and facilities to use public libraries. This will enable the correct and optimal use of elderly people from their leisure in the community and the advancement of libraries in offering services to visitors.
