Purpose: The purpose of this research was to identify the role of librarians of public libraries in Hamadan province in providing information services to children and teenagers.
 Methodology: The current research was applied and conducted with a qualitative methodological approach. The data collection tool was semi-structured interview and purposeful sampling until the saturation of information was reached. The research sample was 36 librarians of public libraries in Hamadan province in 1401. . Data analysis was done simultaneously with data collection and with thematic analysis approach.
 Findings: Data analysis led to the extraction of 5 main themes and 44 sub-themes. The 5 main topics are: information search goals, information sources used , criteria for measuring information credibility, information channels and obstacles to access information. Each of the main topics has sub-topics and sub-topics. Also, the findings of this research showed that librarians play an important role in informing and advertising to attract children and teenagers to libraries, providing suitable and sufficient resources, both  printed  and non-printed, in sync with the technology and advancements of the day, and removing obstacles. Such  as lack of funds and human resources, lack of place, lack of suitable resources.
Originality/value: Although many studies have been conducted regarding the factors affecting information seeking behavior, there was no research that examines the role of librarians in public libraries in providing information services to children and teenagers. In the present research, an attempt has been made to fill this gap.
