Abstract
Purpose: The Current research was directed towards determining the social statues of the librarian from the point of view of the inhabitants in the south east provinces of Iran.
Methodology: This survey was carried out on the pattern of the descriptive method. The Study was carried out in 2013. Our community of study was the people of Zahedan, Kerman and Birjand. Our sample was 800 people who were Cluster- randomly chosen among the different studied jobs and we used a researcher-made questionnaire for collecting data.
Findings: The findings of the survey showed that social status of the librarians was in the mediocre level. The social status of academic librarians was higher than the social status of public librarians in the viewpoint of people. The community of research believed that the important factors to increase social status of librarians were as follows: The sense responsibility, the sufficient information literature of the librarians, having information knowledge to reply user, and enough skills of communication with users.
Originality/Value: By Studying social statutes and extracting effective factors determining social statues librarians, the professional communities and directors can concentrate on the ingredient elements.

Abstract
Purpose: we aimed at the identification of the current social status of Knowledge and Information Science discipline from librarians’ viewpoint in Ahvaz city of Iran. We then analyzed that which of the main factors has the principal effect on the status.
Methodology: This research is an applied survey in which the data were collected by a researcher-made questionnaire. Validity of the questionnaire has confirmed by related KIS professionals and reliability of it have been appraised by confirmatory factor analysis and Cronbach’s alpha with coefficient 0/95. Data were analyzed by descriptive and inferential statistics (Binominal, Mann-Whitney, and Kruscal-Wallis tests).
Findings: Findings showed that 6 factors have effective role in the social status of Knowledge and Information Science (KIS): 1- personal characteristics of professionals; 2- specialism; 3- occupational economy; 4- professional standards; 5- skill learning practice and 6- social need to the profession. Confirmatory factor analysis showed that two of them have meaningful effect: specialism and social need to the profession. Also, there were significant differences among viewpoints in terms of respondent’s educational degree, professional background, type of the library, and occupational position. However, viewpoints have not been significantly different in terms of type of employment and field of activity.
Originality/Value: It seems the research to be worthwhile because of its endeavor to show main factors engaging in social status of KIS discipline. Also, we suggested that there is an urgent need to be care of two important factors: specialism and social need to the discipline.

Abstract
Purpose: the purpose of the study was to survey the attitudes of the people of Ahvaz city (Iran) towards the public libraries and librarians.
Methodology: This work is a descriptive research with survey method. Research population consisted of the total people living in Ahvaz city. By using Krejcie-Morgan sampling table, 410 people were randomly selected through quota sampling procedure. Data collection was conducted using a researcher-made questionnaire. The validity and reliability of the instrument were tested and approved. Questionnaires were distributed and collected manually by the researchers. We used Kolmogrov-Smirnov test, one-sample t-test, Friedman mean rank test, chi-square test for inferential analysis.
Findings: Findings showed that total attitudes of the respondents toward public library services were positive and at the fairly desirable level. Public libraries services, librarians, and social value being perceived fairly desirable. However, viewpoints of people showed that collection development in public libraries is fairly undesirable. The most valuable characteristic of the public libraries understood as sociocultural place.
Originality/Value: we tried to show the peoples immediate attitudes about public libraries and find their perceptions about public library. People don’t believe public library as an information service platform but identify them as a sociocultural place.

Abstract
Purpose: The aim of this study is to assess the multiple relationships between the dimensions of social status of librarians and the structural, cognitive, communicative dimensions of social capital in public libraries in Khuzestan.
Method: This is a quantitative applied study in terms of purpose that was conducted using the descriptive-correlational method. The statistical population of study includes all librarians of public libraries in Khuzestan province (numbered 390), from whom 194 people were selected as the research sample using Cochran formula. To collect data, the social status questionnaire (Najafpour Moghadam and Mohammadi, 1400 SH) and Nahapit and Goshal (1998) social capital questionnaire were used. Descriptive and inferential tests were used to analyze the data using SPSS software version 26.
Findings: The findings showed that there is a positive and significant relationship between the five dimensions of social status and the three dimensions of social capital. Furthermore, there is a significant difference between librarians’ views on social status and its dimensions in the interaction between academic degree and work experience. Examination of the sub-components also showed that there is a significant difference in the structural dimension and librarians with different degrees have different views on the structural dimension.
Originality/value: This study is innovative in that it has studied the social status and social capital of librarians from the perspective of Khuzestan indigenous culture and has examined the demographic variables in the relationship between social status and social capital of librarians.
