Abstract

Purpose: This research aims at the identification of factors affecting Iranian public librarians’ burnout in Iran. Public librarians working in Iran Public Libraries Foundation as a national foundation for public libraries administration are on the target of this study.
Methodology: We used mixed method strategy with exploratory orientation. In first phase, I used qualitative approach and interviewed with 20 experts to extract underpinning factors that affect job burnout. On the basis of extracted elements, I constructed a questionnaire for survey truthfulness of elements and degree and level of their importance and interrelations among them. Validity of questions approved with a few number of related university professors. With simple random sampling, I chose 400 public librarians to fill the questionnaire. After data collection phase, reliability of the questionnaire estimated (0.93). For categorization of collected data, I used factor analysis method by means of SPSS with 25 Varimax rotations and after categorization, priority setting and labeling, I recommended a conceptual model.
Findings: findings showed that six factors affected job burnout of Iranian public librarians: 1. Economic factors 2. Governmental factors 3. Corporate-occupational factors 4. Personal factors 5. Socio-cultural-family factors and 6. Management and communication factors.
Originality/Value: In this research I tried to take a comprehensive approach to extract factors affecting burnout via a mix method with two phases. Economical factors and its detailed sub factors (job payments and peripheral welfare condition, conditioned library budget, work time difficulty) are the most important variables in job burnout.

Abstract

Purpose: To identify the indicators of entrepreneurial organizational culture, to construct and validate its measurement tool in Iran public libraries foundation.
Methodology: This is an applied research in terms of purpose and a descriptive-correlational one in terms of nature and type of research. The study population included all the librarians of public libraries foundation from provincial capitals of Tehran, Shiraz, Isfahan, Kermanshah and Birjand (who numbered 385) from whom a sample of 191 librarians were selected randomly based on Krejcie and Morgan’s Table and the multistage cluster sampling method. Validity of the tool was calculated by content validity, exploratory and confirmatory factor analysis. Reliability of the tool was measured by using Cronbach's alpha and the split-half method was 0.89 , which was 0.89 for Cronbach's alpha, 0.82 for odd items, and 0.78 for even items.
Findings: Based on the research findings, the indicators of entrepreneurial organizational culture in Iran public libraries foundation and their relevant factor loads are as follows: organizational enthusiasm (0.46); cooperation and extra-organizational communications (0.70); continuous learning and support for development (0.62); cohesiveness and systematic approach (0.52); policymaking and planning for the opportunity for change (0.72) library services and marketing (0.68). The results of exploratory and confirmatory factor analysis confirmed the validity and reliability of the tool. Finally, in view of the desired psychometric features of entrepreneurial organizational culture, this tool can be used as a valid tool in the relevant studies.
Originality/value: Our literature review revealed that no study has been conducted into the identification, construction and validation of the indicators of entrepreneurial organizational culture of Iran public libraries foundation
