Objective: The purpose of this study was to investigate the role of public libraries (services and functions) in the economic development of society from the perspective of librarians and public library managers.
Method: The present study was a quantitative research project and was conducted as a survey. A questionnaire was used to collect data.
Findings: Findings in the present study showed that the services and functions of public libraries (education and research, information and information, creating entertainment, holding exhibitions, conferences, etc. and encouraging study and exalting the soul), more than 40% Indicators of economic development have an effective and positive role. Also, the validation of the structural model of the research using Cronbach's alpha, combined reliability, convergent validity, R2, Q2 and GOF of the present research model had a good validity.
Conclusion: The results show that the characteristics and functions of public libraries in Iran have the capacity and ability to play an effective and significant role in the economic development and cultural development of society, and this has happened successfully in developed countries. Is. However, another part of the research that examined the current situation of public libraries in the country, shows that Iran's public libraries in the economic debate have been neglected in relation to the culture and cultural development of society. It can be said that the lack of attention and use of public library capacities in the economic field is one of the reasons for the low role of public libraries in economic developmentCultural development and economic development in public libraries is a very big and time-consuming goal that requires the serious determination of all managers, planners and experts in the field of public libraries and other cultural and economic organizations.
