Purpose: Pop-ups are temporary, flexible, and ephemeral environments where organizations present programs and services and provide direct, experiential interaction with users. This study aims to examine and evaluate pop-up librariesfrom the perspective of users of public libraries in Birjand.

Methods: This is an applied study that was conducted using a survey method. The statistical population of the study was the users of public libraries in Birjand city, whose sample members were selected by random sampling method. A researcher-made questionnaire was used to collect data. The face and content validity of the questionnaire was examined and confirmed through expert judgment, and the reliability of the questionnaire was examined and confirmed using the Cronbach's alpha method.

Results: 18 pop-up libraries were identified that are suitable for holding in public libraries. The findings showed that users have a strong desire to use pop-ups. Mobile library pop-ups, educational workshop pop-ups, storytelling Pop-Ups, social skills Pop-Ups, and movie screening pop-ups are the top 5 priorities of public library users. A survey of users’ favorite places to hold pop-ups showed that local markets and parks have the highest priority, and the inside of the library has the lowest priority.

Conclusion: Public libraries can use pop-ups to expand their services and programs and provide library services to those who cannot attend the library. The findings of this study provide a basis for planning and implementing pop-up libraries and expanding theoretical knowledge in the fields of public libraries.
