Content analysis of master's theses in library and information science at Islamic Azad University, North Tehran, Tehran Science and Research, Ahvaz Science and Research, and Hamadan branches in 1993.2007

Abstract
The aim of the study is to examine the content of postgraduate theses in the field of library and information science at Islamic Azad University, North Tehran Branch, Tehran Science and Research Branch, Ahvaz Science and Research Branch, and Hamadan Branch, in order to determine the thematic trend in each category during the years 1993-2007 and to determine the number of theses by university, year of writing, gender, page, research methodology, and citation status. The research method is content analysis, which was used to collect information using a checklist. The statistical population of the theses under study includes 524 theses. The findings of the study show that the largest number of theses is related to Islamic Azad University, North Tehran Branch, and the smallest number is related to Islamic Azad University, Hamadan Branch, and the average number of pages of theses in the years under study is between 107-137 pages. Based on gender, the number of theses written by women is twice as many as men, and the survey method is used more than other methods. The most commonly used data collection tool in theses is a questionnaire, and descriptive statistics are the most commonly used statistical methods in the theses under study. SPSS software is the most commonly used data analysis method, and the average citations in theses are 39.70 percent, the ratio of Persian sources to total sources is 70.06 percent, and the ratio of Latin sources to total sources is 29.94 percent. In theses, the category of "libraries and information centers" is used more than other categories, and the category of "preservation and maintenance" is used the least.
