Comparing the understand managerial of university libraries and public library manager in Tehran Based on Field of Study

Aim: The purpose of current study is to evaluation the performance of managers who expertise library and information science in achieving optimal management of academic and public libraries in Tehran city with managers who lacking a degree of Library and Information science. This study of 3rd level of technical skills, management skills and human skills is to be measured. More effort is desirable to measure public skill of management because other factors are involved in management. Methods: The research method was applied to the purpose of the survey was to collect data on the type of research. The sample of the study, all the employees working in public libraries in Tehran (depending on the libraries and municipalities) and libraries of public universities affiliated to the Ministry of Science, Research and Technology in Tehran in 1394, which is equivalent to 780 people. To achieve this objective, in addition to theoretical studies and literature review, data were collected using a questionnaire about library management performance measurement reliability with Cronbach's alpha coefficient was 97.0. Results:Also, it was found that the performance of gender-based library management and library and there is a successful female managers than male managers are in addition to the executive directors of public libraries and university libraries have had a better performance. The results of the data analysis reveals that managers that hare expert in Library and Information Science are more successful. Originality/ value: The value of this paper is to show the importance of expertise of knowledge and information science in libraries management, and this effect can be given management, plans to improve the performance director of the library offer.
